Fans of the hammer-wielding Thor are in for a big change.

On Tuesday, Marvel Entertainment announced on The View that Thor will be relaunched in the comics as a woman.

“It’s a huge day in the Marvel Universe,” said show moderator Whoopi Goldberg. “Thor, the God of Thunder, he messed up, and he’s no longer worthy to hold that damn hammer of his. For the first time in history, that hammer is being held by a woman. That’s right. Thor is a woman!”

Though the female character will be separate from the male version of Thor, let it be known that the new female protagonist will be sharing his name.

“This is not She-Thor,” said series writer Jason Aaron in a statement. “This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is Thor. This is the Thor of the Marvel Universe.”

Marvel Comics editor Wil Moss also said that the new Thor “is not a temporary female substitute — she is now the one and only Thor.”

But while very few details have been revealed about the relaunch, we can’t help but ponder over who would make the perfect Thor if this series were to be made into a film. We know Chris Hemsworth already played his part, now it’s time for a woman to kick some major ass!

Here are three possible actresses who can take on the role of Thor:

Jennifer Lawrence:

This is a given, just because Jennifer Lawrence can play a potato and still win an Academy Award. But in all seriousness, we think JLaw would KILL it as Thor as she’s already had experience playing tough and headstrong female heroes in The Hunger Games and the X-Men series.

As well, we’d like to see her throw a hammer. Because after seeing her shoot arrow after arrow as Katniss Everdeen, we think it’s time she gets a new weapon.

Gwendoline Christie:

Watching her fight and protect as the honourable Brienne of Tarth is truly inspiring. Playing a headstrong, independent woman on Game of Thrones, what we love about Christie’s character is that she doesn’t play into conventional gender roles.

Not only can she wield a sword and fight against the boys, she’s also incrediblel loyal to those she makes promises to. These are qualities we see in a female Thor, and we think Christie would be perfect for the role.

Chloë Grace Moretz:

Okay, she might be a bit young for this role. But who’s to say she wouldn’t be old enough in a couple of years?  We loved her as the sassy Hit-Girl in the Kick Ass movies. And if a tiny Chloë  Grace Moretz can shoot a gun, play with knives and kick major butt against her enemies, who’s to say she can’t make a good Thor?
